NORTHERNSTAR NATURAL GAS FILES NOTICE OF INTENT WITH STATE REGULATORS
The
company seeks state approval of a $520 million liquefied
natural gas receiving, storage and send-out terminal
at Bradwood,
in east Clatsop County. The filing represents the first step
in Oregon’s energy facility siting process.
PORTLAND—NorthernStar Natural Gas LLC
formally submitted a Notice of Intent today with the Oregon Energy
Facility Siting
Council (EFSC) to kick-off the siting process for a natural
gas receiving, storage and send-out facility in Clatsop County, Oregon.
The facility will occupy 55 acres of marine industrial zoned
land at Bradwood, a remote 420 total acre site on the Columbia
River 15 miles east of Astoria. A proposed pipeline will run
from the site along existing right-of-ways and tie into the
Williams
Northwest pipeline system 35 miles to the northwest.
“Today we submit our Notice of Intent filing with the
state of Oregon. We look forward to working with local, state
and federal authorities and members of the local community to
develop a project that will meet the highest standards of safety
and reliability, that will create jobs for Oregonians while contributing
to the tax base of Clatsop County and providing low-cost clean
energy for the entire Northwest,” said NorthernStar Natural
Gas Chief Executive Officer Si Garrett. The Notice of intent
provides detailed information about the proposed facility, the
site and the potential impacts of development. A copy of the
Notice of Intent will be available on the EFSC website,
http://egov.oregon.gov/ENERGY
The next step in the EFSC process will be a public
information meeting on the proposed project. Once they are finalized,
details
on the date and location of that meeting will be available on
the NorthernStar Natural Gas website.
