Makes potential total financial commitment of $20.4 million
Cathlamet, WA – Bradwood Landing
LLC announced that it is contributing $100,000 to the
Wahkiakum Community Foundation. The company also announced
a pledge of an additional $100,000 a year to the Foundation
during the period development and construction of the
liquefied natural gas terminal on the Columbia River
was ongoing, as well as a further contribution of $500,000
a year upon commencement of commercial operations of
the terminal that may reach a total company contribution
to the Foundation of over $20 million.
“Bradwood Landing is deeply committed to supporting the Columbia River communities”, said Gary Coppedge at a press conference held at the Julia Butler Hansen house in Cathlamet, Washington today. Coppedge is senior vice president for Bradwood Landing. “This contribution is a continuation of a relationship that we hope will bring lasting economic benefits and environmental enhancements to Wahkiakum County and clean, low-cost energy for the people and businesses of the Pacific Northwest.”
The Wahkiakum Community Foundation was founded four years ago to encourage philanthropy among the people of Wahkiakum County and the Lower Columbia region to benefit and enrich families, build a strong economy in the region, and promote a healthy environment.
“We are delighted that Bradwood Landing has agreed to partner with us to accomplish our mission to improve life and natural environments throughout Wahkiakum County”, said Karen Bertoch, director of the Wahkiakum Community Foundation. “The contribution will help us fund everything from the purchase of new emergency response equipment to providing environmental enhancements to the lower Columbia estuary. This is a great day for this region.”
“This is simply amazing. It is a very good day to be mayor”, said Richard Swart, mayor of the city of Cathlamet. “Today, Bradwood Landing has come here to support this community's dedication, its vision and its values.”
David Hansen, son of Julia Butler Hansen, joined the Wahkiakum
Community Foundation board of directors to accept the Bradwood Landing donation.
Butler Hansen was the pioneering Congresswoman from Washington whose home is
now operated by the Foundation as a historical museum to preserve her legacy
and the history of the community. David Hansen donated his mother’s home to
the Wahkiakum Community Foundation. He also volunteers each week to maintain
the garden.
“Welcome to my mother's garden”, said Hansen. “This
generous gift presents the Foundation with a tremendous opportunity. My mother
would be pleased with how this will benefit the community. When she was finished
with Congress – unlike those who get Potomac Fever and stay – she came home to be with her family, her friends and to enjoy her beautiful garden. This donation is a great way to continue her legacy of giving back to the community.”
Bradwood Landing LLC is owned and operated by NorthernStar Natural Gas Inc. Once constructed, Bradwood Landing will expand the regional availability of clean-burning, safe and affordable natural gas. The company has pledged to match its business aspirations with a bold commitment to improve the Columbia River communities where it lives and works by generating new jobs and economic opportunities, supporting better education for children and leaving a lasting legacy of environmental excellence in all that it undertakes. Bradwood Landing is a privately held company dedicated to bringing clean, safe energy to the Pacific Northwest. XXX
